World Cricket Championship 3’s Most Popular In-App Purchase Is Unlocking Career Mode

According to World Cricket Championship 3 developer Nextwave Multimedia, the game’s most popular in-app purchase is for unlocking career mode. In conversation with IGN India, Nextwave CEO and Founder PR Rajendran revealed that players would go to the extent of saving Platinum — World Cricket Championship 3’s in-game currency earned while playing, to gain access to it.

“Career mode is the highest IAP [in-app purchase] for us,” says Rajendran. “It’s been very popular…people come into the game, earn Platinum [one of World Cricket Championship 3’s in-game currencies] and save it up for unlocking. So it’s a very popular mode in our game. It’s something users have been asking for a very long time. Right now, it’s the most popular IAP.”

As the name suggests, the career mode in World Cricket Championship 3 lets players go through the game’s single-player campaign. It’s a one-time purchase of Rs. 250 (currently discounted to Rs. 179).

It’s likely that because World Cricket Championship 3 already had multiplayer at launch that users would gravitate towards a single-player experience. This is in sharp contrast to other popular games, like Ludo King have seen a surge in multiplayer use due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

That said, Nextwave isn’t ignoring fans of multiplayer either. The game recently got an esports mode. Officially known as ‘Esports Lobby’ it allows users to host tournaments both professional and casual. Users can spectate matches from multiple camera angles and shoutcast as well.
