Nvidia introduces Priority plan for GeForce Now, stops accepting Founders’ Edition sign-ups

Nvidia introduces Priority plan for GeForce Now, stops accepting Founders’ Edition sign-ups

Buying a GPU is tricky right now – not to mention expensive. You could try a game streaming service like Nvidia’s GeForce Now instead. The company just launched the Priority membership program that allows you long play sessions and you can even flip RTX and DLSS on.

The name of the new plan is no accident. If you’ve used GeForce Now before, you’ll know that sometimes you have to wait in line for a machine to free up before you can start your game. Well, this new tier gets priority when queuing up for a game.

You can sign up for $10 a month or pay for a 1-year membership in a single $100 payment. If you just want a test drive, check out the Free tier. Keep in mind that it is more likely to have to wait and play sessions are limited to 1 hour. Plus, Free users can’t enable ray-tracing (and you do have to own the games you want to play).

Anyway, the reason Nvidia introduced the Priority membership is because it no longer accepts sign ups for Founders’ Edition accounts. Those early adopters are getting grandfathered in at $5 a month thanks to the Founders for Life benefit (if you have any questions about that, here’s the FAQ).

GeForce Now is 2 years old now and it has grown quite a bit. It supports day-and-date launches (like Cyberpunk 2077) and the game library now features more than 800 titles.

Nvidia is opening up new data centers, which should help cut down on the wait times. There are currently 20+ around the world and the existing ones are getting expanded.

The company is also working to improve the user experience. The GeForce Now app should be updated to v2.0.28 in about a week and it will bring better image quality. This will be achieved through the unique adaptive Vsync technology, which will reduce stutter and lower latency. A new adaptive de-jitter technology will help increase bit rates on choppy networks too.

Along with the v2.0.28 update, there are 7 new games coming to Now:

For more details – and if you want to sign up – you can check out the official GeForce Now page.
