In a new teaser released for Battlegrounds Mobile India, Krafton seems to be dropping any pretense that the upcoming battle royale game might be different from PUBG Mobile. The trailer shows off the UAZ Jeep, along with a mention of Erangel—the original map for PUBG and PUBG Mobile which both games launched with.
The teaser shows close-up shots of the UAZ Jeep while asking: “Do you remember driving around the hills of Erangel”. It doesn’t really show off any gameplay, and is simply a reminder to its audience to pre-register for the upcoming mobile battle royale. Check out the teaser below.
PUBG developer and owner Krafton has been quiet about the release date for Battlegrounds Mobile India, though a recent post from the game’s India Facebook account stated that Battlegrounds Mobile India will be launched soon. This came after weeks of speculation from the community, as well as influencers hinting at release dates.
Krafton has been facing quite a bit of scrutiny by Indian politicians over the last few weeks. The company, however, has remained silent about the scrutiny—the same strategy it used when prominent members of PUBG Mobile’s community made racist slurs. Krafton has remained silent to this day despite repeated attempts by IGN India to reach out, and the company has also failed to condemn the racist behaviour by its community.
As for when to actually expect Battlegrounds Mobile India to be released, sources in the industry speaking to IGN India on the condition of anonymity claim that the game is set for a June 18 release.
